Visitor centre

The visitor centre at Swannery Car Park will be open for the last time this Saturday, 9 July.

Between 9am and midday a member of the project team will be available to answer any questions you may have.

The centre will then be closed, and no longer open on Mondays or Thursdays.

You can speak to a member of the project team in person at the visitor centre, which is in the Swannery Car Park site offices.

The centre is open:

  • Mondays 9am to 11am
  • Thursdays 12pm to 2pm
  • Second Saturday of the month 9am to 12pm

The next weekend session is this week; Saturday 12 February.

The entrance to the centre is through the boarding next to the Swannery Car Park toilet block, to the right of the men’s facilities.

Work left to do on Harbour Junction & Boot Hill

Harbour Junction artists impression (large version)In January work will restart on Harbour Junction and on Boot Hill.

The junctions were originally programmed to be completed by Christmas but the extreme cold weather prevented essential work such as concrete pouring and tarmac laying to take place.

The remaining work includes:

  • Building last traffic island at Harbour Junction
  • Installing and testing signals at Harbour Junction
  • Surfacing of Harbour Junction
  • Installing and testing new signals at Rodwell Avenue junction
  • Installing and testing new signals at Wyke Road junction
  • Finishing pedestrian island near Chickerell Road junction
  • Installing and testing new signals at Chickerell Road junction
  • Complete additional drainage and surfacing from Rodwell Avenue to Buxton Road
  • Surfacing Boot Hill, including entrance to Rodwell Avenue, Wyke Road and Chickerell Road

Due to the weather the site will shut down for the Christmas break from today, Monday 20 December. The site will reopen on Tuesday 4 January 2011.

The visitors centre will reopen on Thursday 6 January 2011.

Night work cancelled

Tonights work at Harbour Junction has been cancelled.

The visitor centre at Swannery Car Park is also closed today, it will next be open on Monday 9am to 11am.

Apologies for the very short notice.

Extra visitor centre opening

October 21, 2010

An extra session is being put on at the project visitor centre on Swannery Car Park on Tuesday 26 October.

Between 12pm and 2pm cabinet member for transport, Peter Finney, and strategic projects manager Matthew Piles will be available to answer residents’ questions and concerns.

Normal opening hours are:

  • Mondays 9am to 11am
  • Thursdays 12pm to 2pm
  • Second Saturday of the month 9am to 12pm

Ferry Bridge waterproofing (large version)

Highway managers are urging residents to talk to them rather than taking out their frustrations on the workforce after a wooden block was thrown from a car at workers on Ferry Bridge.

This autumn sees several road schemes underway in Weymouth at the same time, and a small number of motorists are becoming more abusive towards highway workers. (more…)

Visitors centre sign (large version)Starting from Wednesday 1 September, the visitor centre at the Weymouth Transport Package site offices on Swannery Car Park will no longer be open on Wednesday evenings.

This decision has been made due to the extremely poor attendance to this session.

The centre will still open:

  • Mondays 9am to 11am
  • Thursdays 12pm to 2pm
  • Second Saturday of the month 9am to 12pm

The next Saturday session is on 11 September.
