Reminder – night work

Kings junction works (large version)

Starting tonight, Kings junction will be closed for surfacing between 7pm and 6am Monday to Friday for just over two weeks:

  • Monday 6 June to Friday 10 June
  • Monday 13 June to Friday 17 June
  • Monday 20 June

Drivers wishing to access the town centre from the west will be able to use Town Bridge or Weymouth Way/Dorchester Road/The Esplanade.

Jubilee Retail Park will be open for business as usual with drivers able to access the site from Spa Road (deliveries will be guided through the works area from Swannery Bridge).

Through traffic will still be able to use Weymouth Way.

The surfacing work is weather dependent and any changes to dates will be posted on this blog.

It would be interesting to know exactly where ‘Kings junction’ is. A search on Google maps does not give an answer. Is it the Junction of King Street and another road?.
    Please clarify.

      Hi Terry,

Kings Junction is the junction of King Street, Swannery Bridge, Commercial Road and Radipole Park Drive. This junction was known as Kings Roundabout.

So how will access for the first Waterloo train of the day (05.55) be provided ? The station needs access for people to park and buy a ticket before this time.

    • Weymouth Transport Package Says:

During the night closures of Kings Junction, King Street will become two-way for access to residential properties, the petrol station and the train station. You will be able to access the train station by entering King Street from the Esplanade.

My Tesco delivery was cancelled tonight as the driver had tried and failed to find a way into Park St. All I had to eat was a tin of tuna to make a sandwich with. I am disabled and unable to walk to the shops.

    • Weymouth Transport Package Says:

      Hi Lindy,

We are sorry to hear of this incident.

Access to all properties is being maintained during the night works and there is clear signage on the highway advising drivers of alternative routes.

We would be happy to supply Tesco with the suggested route into Park Street during our surfacing works.

  4. Terry Says:

Perhaps the signage isn’t as clear as it could be for strangers?

  5. lindy Says:

Please let Tesco and any other services know how they can access areas closed for tarmac works!
