Swannery one-way layout (large version)

Swannery Bridge will be one-way into town starting on Monday.

Work will start on Saturday, and continue over Sunday, to put scaffolding and debris netting up alongside the bridge. During this work one of the three lanes over the bridge will be closed but it will remain open to two-way traffic.

From 6am on Monday the bridge will be one-way towards the seafront (eastbound) for up to six weeks while it is re-waterproofed.

Although six weeks have been allowed for the work, as it is weather dependent, the project team hope to get the work done in three to four weeks.

Swannery Bridge was last waterproofed in 1984, during it’s construction, and is overdue this essential maintenance as waterproofing normally lasts 20 to 25 years.

I went into town today (Sunday) and was dismayed to see that some yobbos had been on the rampage and ripped up all the plants and moved the decorative rocks around on the roundabout at the bottom of King Street. Where were the police when this was happening?

    • Weymouth Transport Package Says:

      Hi Terry,

The borough council have removed the tropical foliage ahead of work starting on the King Street junctions in January.

The palms from the roundabout are being relocated to Alexander Gardens.
