It has been confirmed that the work to install and connect additional detection equipment at Harbour Crossroads on 6 April will be carried out from 6.30pm.
The signals will be switched off and the junction will be controlled by four-way temporary lights while the work is done. The junction signals should be back on between 10pm and 11pm.
The work is weather dependent and will need to be rescheduled if it is raining.
Work will be taking place tomorrow, Saturday 24 July, outside the job centre to bring the road surface to the correct level.
Stop and go boards will be used during the work, but these will not start until after the Saturday afternoon peak time traffic has cleared.
Workmen will be on site setting up equipment from 4pm and will work into the evening until the job is finished.
Due to a severe weather warning, this evenings surfacing work on Portland Beach Road has been cancelled.
The works are on schedule but with 60mph winds and heavy rain forecast for tonight, surfacing works will now be carried out on Monday night.
Because of the close proximity to residents’ homes, we do not plan to work on the junctions overnight.
Normal working hours will be from 7.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, depending on the type of work being done.
If work is required on a Saturday, it will normally be from 7.30am to 1pm.
Although working through the day and night would allow us to complete the junction works quicker, the noise and light from night works would make living conditions awful for local people.
